According to recent ecommerce insights from Scurri about global shipping trends in Q4 2025, several product industries saw huge growth compared to Q4 2024.

In addition to industries, the data highlights volume growth, delivery preferences, and breaks down volume growth by location, to give a comprehensive overview of what the ecommerce industry looks like at the end of 2025.

The Fastest Growing Industries in Ecommerce

Recently, Scurri, a delivery management platform, updated the company’s “Scurri Unpacked” resource, which gives quarterly updates on all things related to ecommerce shipping. The Q4 2025 edition dove deep into several important insights, including which industries and products grew the most from Q4 2024 to Q4 2025.

The largest ecommerce industry change between these two periods was pet and animal products, which grew by 35.2% from Q4 2024 to Q4 2025. Other high-growth industries, according to the data, include:

  • Tools and DIY (29.5% growth)
  • Garden and outdoor (17.5% growth)
  • Motor (16.3% growth)
  • Toys (16.1% growth)
  • Sports equipment (13.5% growth)
  • Cosmetics (10.3% growth)

On the other hand, industries that are falling include homewares, which were down 24.6% in 2025 compared to 2024, and fashion, which dropped by 9.1%. As you can see, practical purchases reigned supreme in 2025, as people prioritized products for their pets, as well as products that helped them improve both their homes and outdoor spaces.

Volume Growth

In addition to focusing on industries that grew, it also looked at ecommerce delivery volume growth in general. According to the research, 2025 saw steady growth in volume each month, with the biggest year-over-year increase being in November 2025, which saw 19% growth over November 2024.

The overall quarterly volume growth for 2025 saw Q1 grow 19.4% compared to the previous year, while Q2, Q3, and Q4 grew by 17.9%, 23.7%, and 17.2%, respectively. The fact that each quarter saw nearly 20% (or more) growth compared to 2024 highlights just how prevalent online shopping is becoming around the world, a trend that I don’t see stopping anytime soon.

Growth by Destination

The data also broke down the growth by destination. While the UK only saw modest growth of 1.5% from Q4 2024 to Q4 2025, many parts of Europe saw much higher growth in that period, such as:

  • Germany (34.7% growth)
  • Belgium (29.8% growth)
  • Poland (27.5% growth)
  • Denmark (23.4% growth)
  • Netherlands (12.2% growth)
  • Sweden (11.8% growth)

Also, the data showed that volume in the USA and Canada significantly decreased in 2025 compared to 2024, by 31.1% and 39.2%, respectively.

Many companies using the Scurri platform are in the UK and Europe, so these numbers make sense, as the uncertainty around tariffs may be contributing to these lower numbers for North American countries.

Consumer Delivery Preferences

Finally, it also touched on consumer delivery preferences. The biggest change in delivery is that 24% more people opted for weekend delivery in Q4 2025 vs. Q4 2024. This is likely due to people wanting to be home when items are delivered.

If a package gets delivered during the week, possibly while the customer is at work, there’s a higher chance of it being stolen, damaged, or the delivery being missed if it requires a signature.

The demand for fast deliveries also increased, as people don’t want to wait long for the items they buy online. In fact, next-day deliveries grew by 11.6%, while standard deliveries only grew by 6%, and two-day deliveries actually decreased by 5%.

But while speed is crucial, free shipping is also among the most important ecommerce trends, so brands need to balance shipping speed and pricing to find the balance that works best for their customers, or offer multiple options.

However, I understand that improving your company’s shipping speed and price isn’t always easy, especially when recent stats show that many shipping providers and carriers are actively increasing prices.

Being aware of the insights covered in this resource, and others like it, is crucial for ecommerce brands. It gives you an inside look at which products are increasingly being bought online, which regions are purchasing more often, what customers want, and the direction of the industry as a whole.

The ecommerce industry moves fast, and reading through the latest data from around the world ensures you’re never out of the loop or stuck relying on old or outdated information that may steer you in the wrong direction when making your next big decision.
