Amazon recently announced that two new business credit cards are coming this spring, and that they offer U.S. customers both more ways to save and a host of new features designed specifically for small businesses. Also, the company has partnered with U.S. Bank for these new cards, ending a multi-year partnership with American Express.
Amazon Releasing Two New Business Credit Cards
In a recent press release on the company website, Amazon announced that it’s releasing a new Prime Business Card and a new Amazon Business Card this spring. The company says that these new cards give U.S. customers both more ways to save and a collection of new features designed for small businesses.
The Prime Business Card offers Prime members 5% back on Amazon purchases, and the Amazon Business Card provides 3% back for customers who don’t have a Prime membership. In addition to this cash back, both versions of the card offer more rewards when shopping off Amazon, flexible credit terms, and have no annual fees.
The company also says that more information about the benefits of the cards will be announced in the coming months.
In addition to announcing these new cards, Amazon has recently been making plenty of moves that benefit the companies that sell on the platform, such as introducing AI features that help sellers visualize their data, speeding up deliveries, and more.
Switching Away From American Express
In the release, the company also announced that the new card program would be created in partnership with U.S. Bank and Mastercard. By partnering with U.S. Bank and Mastercard, Amazon’s multi-year partnership with American Express for cards has ended.
The move makes sense, as both U.S. Bank and Mastercard are deeply ingrained in the small business landscape in the USA. U.S. Bank serves over 1.4 million small business customers with a variety of banking solutions, while Mastercard supports small businesses with a variety of digital tools, insights, analytics, and security solutions.
This move is beneficial for everyone involved, as U.S. Bank gets access to a massive and engaged small business customer base that sells on Amazon, and Mastercard gets to closely align itself with Amazon to expand its footprint within digital commerce.
Of course, the move also benefits businesses that use Amazon, as it gives them a no-fee card that offers solid rewards. While it remains to be seen what other features the cards will offer, there’s a good chance they’ll also benefit small businesses, as well.
Existing Card Members Can Continue to Use Existing Cards
While Amazon is making the switch away from American Express, people who currently have a U.S. Amazon Business and/or Amazon Business Prime American Express card can continue to use them and earn rewards.
These card members will receive information from both American Express and U.S. Bank with details about the transition, plus information about the new cards.
In another post, Amazon said that customers with the current card options will have them replaced with the new cards issued by U.S. Bank on August 14th, 2026.
While the cards aren’t out yet, and there are still some details and benefits that haven’t been released, the high cash back percentages and the fact that there’s no annual fee should make this a popular card for small business owners.
