According to projections, the advanced connectivity in ecommerce and retail market is expected to grow rapidly over the next decade. This is driven by overall ecommerce growth, the increasing adoption of smart retail technologies, and the popularity of omnichannel selling. The report also details key segmentation and regional insights, further breaking down the industry.

The Advanced Connectivity in Ecommerce and Retail Market Projected to Skyrocket

According to a press release, the advanced connectivity in ecommerce and retail market was valued at $97.26 billion in 2025, and is expected to reach over $502 billion by 2035. This means the market is projected to grow at a rapid compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 17.86% over the forecast period between 2026 and 2035.

The Drivers of This Growth

The release also provides some of the key drivers of this massive growth, and why it’s expected to rise so high and so quickly, over the next few years. First, the general growth of the ecommerce industry may push the advanced connectivity market forward.

Also, the increased adoption of smart retail technologies may also help to catapult the industry to new heights. This includes the increased use and deployment of 5G, WiFi, the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud platforms, and more.

Retailers of all shapes and sizes use these technologies to personalize engagement, offer real-time inventory control, and support smart store and warehouse operations.

Using advanced connectivity solutions is also useful for companies that maintain an omnichannel approach, as they can help you sync and share data in real-time, and simplify the process of tracking products, making updates, and analyzing data.

With how popular omnichannel selling is becoming, more and more companies will need smart connectivity solutions to prevent data silos, successfully navigate inventory across channels, and unify the customer view. In fact, 86% of companies are already selling on more than two channels, and 75% of brands are planning to add at least one additional sales channel in 2026.

Key Segments of the Industry

The release ends by offering a brief segmentation analysis of the industry by breaking it down by component, technology, application, end-user, and region. By component, routers made up about 50% of the industry in 2025. However, connectivity platforms are expected to grow the fastest throughout the forecast period.

The technology that’s most common is 5G, as 55% of the market is 5G networks, as they’re high-speed and built to support many devices at once. However, Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) are expected to grow the most, as they offer long-range connectivity, which is beneficial to warehouses or stores with many sensors or devices all connected.

By application, nearly 45% of advanced connectivity solutions were used to manage supply chains. They can help with everything from tracking and managing inventory to managing shipments and automating many processes, such as replenishment.

However, customer engagement is the fastest-growing use case for these advanced connectivity solutions, as many brands are investing in and focusing on solutions to help provide personalized promotions, interactive experiences, and adaptable loyalty programs.

By end-user, 60% of the market is made up of large retail chains, due to their large scale and high budget for technology, which allows them to deploy connectivity solutions quickly. On the other hand, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the most rapidly expanding segment of the market.

Finally, by region, North America is the largest market for advanced connectivity solutions, as it holds 38% of the market share. This is mainly thanks to the region’s developed ecommerce market, quick adoption of high-speed internet, and a solid and broad foundation of IoT devices.

The Asia Pacific region is expected to be the fastest-growing region for advanced connectivity in ecommerce and retail, with a CAGR of 22.20% during the forecasting period.

I personally wouldn’t be surprised to see the industry grow as much as this press release suggests. As more companies become more advanced in their efforts and look to sell or market in different places at once, being able to unify inventory levels, customer data, and more becomes incredibly important.

Data silos and other issues that stem from a lack of connectivity can be horrific for companies and lead to plenty of wasted time, effort, and money.
