Uber and Shopify recently partnered to bring same-day delivery to Shopify Plus merchants. This allows ecommerce brands to meet customer demand for quicker deliveries, all without needing to handle the logistics and delivery themselves.
The integration opens up many new sales opportunities for merchants and offers several features to ecommerce brands, including an easy setup process, transparent pricing, real-time tracking, and more.
Uber Direct Now Available for Shopify Plus Merchants
Thanks to a partnership between Uber and Shopify, Shopify Plus merchants in the USA, Canada, and France now have access to Uber Direct. This makes it easier than ever for these merchants to offer fast and reliable delivery through Uber.
Uber Direct for Shopify brings Uber’s delivery network (including one-hour, same-day, and scheduled deliveries) into the Shopify ecosystem. Not only that, but merchants can get these additional delivery options without having to worry about managing dispatch, building tracking tools, or creating and managing their own fleet of delivery vehicles.
Customers Increasingly Want Orders Quickly
This integration is especially important today, as customers increasingly expect rapid and reliable deliveries when shopping online. For example, statistics show that 80% of consumers expect retailers to offer same-day delivery, and 41% of them are willing to pay more for these same-day deliveries.
Offering express delivery options can even boost customer loyalty, as 72% of consumers are more likely to continue ordering from companies that offer express delivery.
As a result, offering quick deliveries not only satisfies customers by getting the things they want to them quicker, but also serves as a great way to boost customer retention.
Key Benefits of the Integration for Ecommerce Merchants
Unfortunately, managing these rapid last-mile deliveries is challenging and expensive for many ecommerce brands. Thankfully, this integration makes it simple and takes a lot of the complexity out of the equation for companies.
In addition to enhancing delivery options without much additional work, this partnership between Uber and Shopify also offers merchants more sales opportunities than before. Traditionally, because many ecommerce merchants take days to ship products, they may miss out on those last-minute purchases, spontaneous gifts, or other items that require more professional or specialized care.
But with this integration, ecommerce brands can now offer their products as options to consider during these key customer moments. In addition to potentially leading to more sales opportunities, this integration offers several other benefits for ecommerce merchants, including:
- A simple setup, as you can get started through the Shopify App Store, without needing to worry about complex API builds.
- Streamline integration, as the delivery options are embedded right into checkout without any additional software or work.
- The flexibility to offer same-day, scheduled, or one-hour delivery through Uber Direct.
- Transparent pricing, as you’re free to control your margins and choose how much of the cost you pass to customers.
- Live tracking, so you can always keep customers notified about the status of their order and where the delivery is.
While this option is currently only available for Shopify Plus merchants in the USA, Canada, and France, Uber says it’ll be in more regions in the future.
