With costs rising and economic pressures mounting, you’d think it would be a challenging time to run a business. But at least for independent sellers on Amazon, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In fact, independent sellers on Amazon enjoyed a ton of success in 2025, as a record number of them broke $1 million in sales. This shows that with the right tools and strategies, along with plenty of resilience, sellers can still succeed in less-than-ideal conditions.

More Independent Sellers on Amazon Sold More Than $1 Million Than Ever Before

In 2025, independent sellers on Amazon were more successful than ever, as more of them reached $1 million in sales than in any year prior.

In total, more than 75,000 independent sellers sold more than $1 million on Amazon in 2025, which is a 36% increase over the previous year. Also, independent sellers in the USA averaged over $375,000 in annual sales on Amazon, which is almost 30% higher than in 2024.

Many sellers in the region also experienced monumental growth over the last year, as more than 11,000 U.S.-based sellers grew their sales by more than 10X.

In addition to those in America succeeding, Amazon sellers in Europe also had a wonderful year in 2025, as EU sellers on the platform set a new record for sales at over €40 billion.

The success of independent sellers on the platform didn’t just improve growth for thousands of businesses, but also fueled local economies. In fact, independent sellers on Amazon supported over 2 million jobs across the USA.

Amazon Tools Greatly Contributed to This Growth

While the hard work of the sellers themselves and their teams played a huge role in this growth, Amazon itself also helped contribute.

For example, the Seller Assistant tool on Amazon, which is an AI expert that can help answer questions or give advice, had more than 230,000 monthly users. Also, sellers accepted the Seller Assistant-recommended actions more than 90% of the time, demonstrating the high-quality assistance it provides.

Amazon also offers generative AI listing tools to help sellers list their products much more quickly and effectively than in the past, saving time and potentially leading to faster sales.

Speaking on this feature in particular, the co-owner of C&M Personal Gifts, Michael Gore, said that “When you have over a thousand listings, saving a couple minutes per listing means what would take weeks to do manually was completed in hours,”.

Some sellers are even using AI to identify new opportunities with the Product Opportunity Explorer. This tool checks billions of customer interactions to learn about emerging trends, unmet demand, and pricing insights that would’ve taken hours to analyze in the past.

Finally, Amazon expanded Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) even further in 2025 with more than 20 AI-powered FBA tools. These help sellers reduce costs, save time, optimize packaging, and more.

Of course, these innovations didn’t stop in 2025, as the company has big plans for 2026, such as scaling up drone delivery to help businesses deliver faster than ever.

Small Businesses on Amazon Showing Resilience in Difficult Economic Times

Growth like this is always impressive, but it’s especially true today during difficult economic times. For example, global logistics and fulfilment costs have risen by over 20% in the last three years, making running a business much more expensive than it used to be.

Supply chains are also quite volatile, global competition is rising, fees are increasing, and customer expectations regarding things like delivery speed are more demanding than in the past.

But despite these issues, and other rising costs and economic pressures like high inflation, tariffs, and expensive debt, independent sellers have continued to thrive on Amazon.

This shows that even in the face of difficulty, sellers can continue to see success if they tighten their operational discipline, find ways to stand out above competitors, optimize marketing spend, and leverage AI/automation where possible.
