Whether you’re an individual selling a pair of shoes or a business selling your newest handmade product, Facebook Marketplace is among the most popular places to sell. Thanks to a new app, the experience of selling on the platform and managing your sales has just gotten easier.
The app, called Seller, puts a seller’s insights, listings, messages, and selling history in one convenient and dedicated space. Facebook is seemingly committed to the app for the long-term, as it’s planning to evolve the app over time based on feedback.
A Brand-New App for Facebook Marketplace Sellers
While Facebook Marketplace is already the most popular social platform for shopping, it has just become even better with the introduction of a brand-new app called Seller. Seller is an app specifically for Marketplace sellers, dedicated to helping them run their business and manage their sales from a standalone app, and not just on Facebook.
The way it works is straightforward, as it just syncs with your existing conversations, listings, selling history, and carries them over to the new app. Also, anything you create or list in the app appears in Marketplace like any other listing you’ve created.
It’s important to note that while there’s now a dedicated app to help you sell on Marketplace, you can continue to sell directly through Facebook as you did in the past, if you prefer. Currently, the app is available on the App Store, with Android testing underway.
Seller also isn’t the only newly introduced tool aimed at businesses operating on Facebook, as the company recently revealed Business Agent, which is an agentic AI tool meant to help businesses with everything from answering customer questions to closing sales.
Centralizing Your Facebook Marketplace Selling
Seller serves as a dedicated and centralized destination to manage your Marketplace sales and conversations. It includes a variety of features meant to help sellers and businesses succeed. First, there’s Seller home, which is a home area that surfaces all of your most important and pressing matters, such as items you need to ship, questions you need to answer, and more.
The platform also lets you create listings, both for a single item and bulk listings. Also, if you want to streamline the process, you can simply upload a photo and let Meta AI create and fill in things like the title, description, category, and even a price suggestion. This is especially good for when you have tons of items to post, as it could potentially save you hours of work.
Managing listings is also easy with Seller, as the app lets you edit, manage, and relist everything in one convenient place. There’s also a unified inbox that keeps all of your buyer messages in one place. They’re even threaded by item, so you can easily jump to the exact conversation you want to see.
Finally, it also offers performance insights like views, clicks, message threads, and sold listings, so you can see how your various listings are perfomring/have performed.
Also, there’s a good chance more features are released and revealed in the future, as Facebook has said that it wants to continue evolving the app over time based on feedback from Marketplace sellers.
Our Take
Facebook Marketplace is Becoming a Major Priority
As social commerce continues growing in popularity, Meta likely sees Facebook Marketplace as a major driver of engagement, a good advertising opportunity, and a part of the platform that helps improve user retention.
Because of this, Marketplace is becoming a major priority for the brand, and this has never been truer than now, thanks to this new app. It serves as the next logical step in turning Facebook from just a social media platform to a full-fledged retail destination for buying and selling a variety of products.
As a result, if you’re a seller who has only dabbled in selling on Marketplace, or hasn’t done it at all, now may be the time to give it a try.
