Small business owners are frequently stuck spending hours on administrative tasks. However, Anthropic is looking to fix this by offering a new enterprise solution called Claude for Small Business.

This solution acts like your very own agentic assistant, capable of automating a variety of tasks, saving business owners precious time and effort in the process.

Anthropic Reveals Claude for Small Business

To help small businesses better manage their tasks, Anthropic introduced Claude for Small Business. This is a solution that includes both workflows and connectors to let small businesses put Claude inside the tools they use most, to ensure these companies can take full advantage of AI.

While 99.9% of companies in the USA are small businesses, and despite small businesses employing nearly 46% of the private sector workforce, these companies haven’t adopted AI as quickly as larger enterprises. These tools and solutions are often tailored more towards large companies, and may not work with the way small businesses operate and offer what they need.

Also, many small businesses may not have the finances or resources to adopt AI, may fear it’s too complicated to learn how to use, or simply may not be sure if it’ll be worth it and provide enough ROI.

This move follows the company’s recent release of Claude Marketplace, which lets companies use their existing Anthropic commitment to purchase different tools and solutions from Claude-powered partners. The company also recently expanded its relationship with Amazon, making Claude available to Amazon Web Services (AWS) customers.

How the Solution Works

The way that Claude for Small Business works is straightforward, as it’s a toggle install that puts Claude AI inside the tools your business uses. It connects with PayPal for settlements, invoicing, and disputes, QuickBooks for payroll planning, tax preparation, and reconciliation, Canva for generating various types of content, and features several other connections, as well.

All you need to do is toggle it on inside Claude Cowork, connect your tools, and pick the job you want Claude to take on. While Claude does the work, it also checks for your approval before anything is sent or posted. So while it saves you plenty of work, you still get the final say on whether the work it did is sufficient or not.

As for what it can do, Claude for Small Business comes with 15 agentic workflows across several business areas like customer service, HR, sales, finance, marketing, and others. It also includes many skills that were built on the tasks that slow down many business owners.

Some things you can automate with the solution include planning your payroll, viewing important business insights, reconciling your books, analyzing marketing campaign performance, and more. Specifically, the Co-founder and President of Anthropic, Daniela Amodei, said that “People run the business, and Claude helps take the late-night work off their plates.”

Helping Small Businesses Feel More Comfortable with AI

In addition to simply providing the tools to help companies succeed, Anthropic is also helping owners and their employees learn how to use them. In fact, the company collaborated with PayPal on a free online course called AI Fluency for Small Business.

Taught by owners who have implemented AI into their own operations, this course offers step-by-step guidance on how companies can use AI ethically, safely, and responsibly.

Anthropic is also taking this education into the real world across the country with The Claude SMB Tour. This is a free half-day live AI training workshop that’s making stops in several cities, including Dallas, San Jose, Baltimore, Indianapolis, and several others, and supports up to 100 local small business leaders at each stop.

Also, with data security being a concern among small business owners, Anthropic built Claude for Small Business with security in mind. In addition to always being able to approve what Claude does before anything is official, the existing permissions you have in your tools stay the same, and the company doesn’t train on your data by default on Team and Enterprise plans.

Implications for Small Business

The launch of this solution has the potential to streamline operations for the many small businesses that have been hesitant or unable to jump into using AI. It helps to bridge the AI adoption gap as it automates mundane tasks using the tools your businesses already use and are comfortable with.

It doesn’t force businesses to adopt new tools or create new workflows, as it simply integrates automation into existing workflows you already have. While the solution offers benefits to all small businesses, this is especially true for lean teams as it lets you handle detailed and high-volume tasks quickly, without having to put your entire team on the job to get it done.

In addition to companies using this new Claude for Small Business offering, there’s also a new Claude course that’s been making the rounds on social media. Specifically, it’s aimed at helping businesses automate their entire operation, and can handle searching for information, creating social media posts, building and writing emails, and more.

Whether it’s through this brand-new offering, a useful course, or another solution that Anthropic has implemented, the company is clearly taking enterprise seriously and is trying to make Claude the AI of choice for business owners, both large and small.
